I did Stephen King yesterday with Salem’s Lot, and guess what? I’m going to do another of his here again today. You can never have enough King. Cat’s Eye is one of those 80’s flicks that I adore. I mean, I worship horror anthologies already, but this one has always held a special place in my heart. Here is the brief IMDB synopsis:
A stray cat is the linking element of three tales of suspense and horror.
Cat’s Eye is one of those movies that captures a time period perfectly. It has so much amazing 80’s in it that it hurts. All three stories are bonkers, suspenseful and just a damn good time. From the very beginning, you’ll enjoy how self-referential this flick is. It’s chock full of Stephen King easter eggs. Right up front you have the cat being chased by Cujo and then almost gets hit by Christine. But man, the stories are all so creepy in different ways. It’s hard for me to choose which I love more. James Woods play the perfect jerk who goes to desperate measures to quit smoking. The entirety of The Ledge always has me on the edge of my seat (I HATE that damn pigeon.) And of course then you get Drew Barrymore vs. the little troll. I don’t know why, but this is comfort food for me. I’m surprised by how often I put this on in the background. Cat’s Eye is just a damn good time all around.
