I really love the Omen movies. I’ve spoken previously about The Omen, and Damien: Omen II, but now it’s The Final Conflict: Omen III’s time to shine. This one serves as quite a wrap to the trilogy (not including the prequel). It’s just as bonkers, violent, and delightfully sacrilegious as the others. And as an added bonus, this one has 100% more Sam Neill! Here is the brief imdb synopsis:
The now adult Antichrist plots to eliminate his future divine opponent while a cabal of monks plot to stop him.
The thing that stands out the most in this movie is obviously that Damien isn’t a kid anymore. He’s now fully grown up and ready to rumble. Plus, whereas in the other films he was mostly unaware of who he was and what his lot in life was to be, in The Final Conflict, he knows damn well. That adds a whole different angle here from the previous films. Damien is a force, and he’s going to take down anyone who challenges him. Oh you priests think you have some magic daggers that can take out the Anti-Christ? To that Damien simply says, come at me bro. Can we also talk a bit about how awesome Sam Neill is? That’s enough right there to watch this movie. But what really seals this film for me is how far it actually goes. I won’t ruin anything, but let’s just say the ending of this film truly goes for it. I remember the first time I watched it, I was pretty damn surprised. I think it’s a valid finale to a really fantastic horror series.
