Ahh, the French. They are making some the absolute best horror films the past few years, and definitely some of the most hardcore. Inside is definitely hardcore. Another flick that divides people, I won’t lie, this is a difficult movie to watch. It is relentlessly aggressive and absolutely pulls NO punches. Some of the graphic violence is so shocking it’s just jaw-dropping. Hell, it was originally rated NC-17 for it. There is one scene in particular that has become a talking point because of its never-before-seen boundary crossing. Trust me, it will make most people say to themselves, “they did NOT just show that.” Inside is about an at-term pregnant woman who is stalked in her house by a psychopath who wants her baby, or more appropriately, to cut her baby out of her. Yes, it’s really sick stuff, but damn if it isn’t also one of the best and most intense thrillrides in years. As a horror fanatic, I love when movies pull no punches and seemingly know no boundaries, because then you’re actually a tad nervous watching it. Watching Inside, you don’t know what’s going to happen next, because in this world, literally anything can happen. Shocking and sick, but if you aren’t feint of heart, get ready for a seriously disturbing and unforgettable roller coaster ride.
